January 24, 2008 - The Wisconsin Conservation Congress issued a minority report objection to the CWD committee recommendations. This is a very well written letter and we couldn't agree more. Read it here.

June 13, 2007 - The WDHA issued a press release titled "Hunter's Rights Coalitions Motives Questionable" to highlight the dangers of this political group. While their name maybe appealing the HRC is, in reality, a deceptive political trick being played on hunters. Read the press release here.

April 5, 2007 - We made the commitment to root out the politics in resource management and over the last several years we've seen some amazing things, but this example is truly shocking. Please read our press release below on the Wi Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation attempts at political trickery. Read the press release here.

December 6, 2006 - DNR Chief Warden Randy Stark issued a report on how deer baiting is adversely affecting deer hunting. A new phrase "baiting in self defense" was coined and now we even have people paying others to bait for them. Illegal baiting is the #1 violation for the 3rd year in a row and is still increasing with no end in sight. Read the report here.

February 22, 2006 - DNR memo outlining the major problems with the deer season rule changes demanded by the legislature. Read this memo for more information on how complicated the legislature made any simple changes to the proposed rule. You'd think they would know the law!

February 20, 2006 - Call to close snowmobile trails. We are encouraging all landowners to close snowmobile trails crossing their property because of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile clubs position against the 2006 deer season proposal. See our latest ad in Wisconsin Outdoor News.

February 10, 2006 - Deer season rules shot down by legislature. This means that there will be no new rules for this season, and the October T-zone will be back. Read the WDHA press release that put the blame right where it belongs, with the legislature.

February 1, 2006 - New baiting ban request. The DNR has sent a memo to Rep. Gunderson and Sen. Kedzie asking for a change in the deer baiting law. They are requesting a deer baiting/feeding ban for 10 day prior to and through the 9 day gun season. This 19 day baiting ban is being sought to help with herd control and the need to use T-zones and earn a buck seasons. Read the memo here.

September 20, 2005 - A 2004 South Carolina study proves deer baiting has a negative affect on deer harvest rates. We believe this is the first study to actually compare baiting vs. no baiting in separate areas which is a very important distinction compared to other studies that compared the use of bait/no bait in areas that allowed baiting (like WI and MI). Read the full report here.

March 21, 2005 - WDHA Objects to Deer Hunters Being Used as Leverage by Legislators.

WDHA Position on the deer hunting license fee increase. Also false accusations by our legislative leaders and why deer hunters have become their political pawns. Read the press release here.

The DNR released their report with proposals on changes for the 2006 deer hunting season. The charge of the team was to "Simplify deer harvest management to make it more user friendly while balancing science and enforceability needs." There will be hearings throughout the state on the rules. The report can be found here, and appendix A here.

December 7, 2004 - 2004 Gun Deer Season Report

A summary of the 2004 gun deer season from Randy Stark, Chief Warden. Includes incredible stories of hunting violations. Also documents a 97% increase in baiting violations. This violation includes using too much bait and baiting in a prohibited area. Read it here (note - it's a MS word document).
